Commandline/Direct-Start (all users)
All the Vega Strike savegames are in your home directory under \".vegastrike\" (or in the vegastrike directory under \".vegastrike\" under windows). Change the save game by editing the file \"save.txt\". The file is called \"save.4.x,txt\" in Vegastrike4.x.
Mac users
- ...should do the following (because \".vegastrike\" is a hidden directory)
- In the finder choose Go To Folder from the Go menu.
- Type ~/.vegastrike to open the vegastrike folder in a Finder window
- Drag the folder from the title bar of the Finder window while holding down the alt and command(apple) keys to make an alias of this folder on your Desktop.
Launcher (windows/linux/unix)

There should be a program named "Launcher" in the vegastrike directory or Start Menu. This program provides a list of game choices:
Select Mission
This allows you to select which Vega Strike mission to play. Once selected, you start the mission by selecting Selecting New Game, Launch Last Savegame or Launch Nosavegame will begin the mission. Most missions do not involve save games and will ignore those options. The default, however, in the mission/exploration folder will utilize the save games you specify. If you ignore this option you default to the standard trading/bounty hunting mission.
New Game
Start a new game in the Vega Strike universe. You start with a dinged up old Llama and head from your starting sector with the hope of finding profit and adventure on the frontier. The \"New Game\" option is actually the same as the "Load game" except it makes a new game if a current saved game does not exist. To start afresh, you must delete the old saved game first.
Load Saved Game
This opens up a saved game you had finished playing before. To save you must dock at the base, enter a Cargo or Weapons Computer, Select Options and Save. NOTE that if you choose the LOAD button from a base IN GAME, your ship will be destroyed so you can press respawn (semicolon) and continue where you last saved from! This is not quite as intuitive as we would have hoped :-(.
Recover From Autosave
This button allows a player to recover their most recently played game into their selected save game upon next run. If the player quits or the player docks, and then dies, it will restore to the last saved position.
Launch Last Savegame
Use this button to launch Vegastrike from a saved game or mission. If you do not choose a mission, you will start in the standard trading/bounty hunting mission.
Launch No Savegame
This button allows you to launch the selected mission without using a saved game.
Options
Brings up the setup screen to configure Vega Strike. Refer to Config for information on configuration selections.
Help
Pop up help window with this information.
Exit Launcher
Exits the launcher.
