Role Summary: | Mobile ordinance-range extension platform |
Role Details: | The Mechanist built Bomber Mk. 37 is exceptionally pure in its functionality. It is armed solely with missile/torpedo ordinance and PD turrets. It is therefore not so much an assault craft as a straightforward mobile missile platform. The Bomber Mk. 37 is designed to be able to rapidly unload its entire load of missiles/torpedoes, so that the intercept window for the craft itself, if not for the munitions it has fired, is minimized. The appearance taken on to suit this task, in typically mechanist fashion, has not resulted in the most aesthetic craft imaginable, earning this class of vessels the nickname "pepper-box" bombers. As can be surmised from the above, this class of vessels is extremely reliant upon solid escorts to properly carry out its mission. |
Combat Behavior: | Closes to optimal heavy missile/torpedo range, launches all ordinance, retreats/resupplies. |
