On arrival at a base, station or planet, most pilots will want to perform a number of various functions. These functions include browsing for new missions, replacing and upgrading weapons and ships, and lastly, trading any cargo they happen to be carrying in their holds.
We focus here on trading cargo. To trade cargo, you must have access to a Cargo Computer. Once you locate the Cargo Computer (you may not find one, as not all bases have the access required. The Cargo Screen might be accessible from the mission computer in this case), place your cursor over it. The Cargo Computer name will highlight. Once this occurs click to activate the computer and take you to the Cargo Screen.
The Cargo Screen, as with all other computers, will have the following across the upper viewing area. The title 'Cargo Dealer', followed by the name of your current base location, with the owner's name in brackets beside it. Below that your total available credits is shown. Beside your credit record is a record of your cargo hold showing total cargo volume of the hold and cargo volume remaining.
Do not be alarmed if you have no cargo on record, but cargo space available is less than total cargo. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, ship upgrades not attached to the ship take up room in your cargo hold. Secondly, if you have failed a cargo mission, you may still have the cargo, but as it is mission cargo, it is not available for general resale. To clear this cargo, you need to be inflight. Select your cargo manifest, using [ w ] and use [PGUP] or [PGDN] to ensure the cargo is recorded as the topmost cargo. Use [Shift]-[Z] to eject that cargo. If you have a Tractor Beam, you may then tractor the mission cargo back in as standard, sellable cargo.
In the top right corner of the Cargo Computer is the Options Menu and the Done button. The [Done] button exits the Cargo Computer. Refer to Manual:Base Interface:Game Menu for a description of the Options Menu.
