About
'Jumping' is called a method to overcome enormous distances within almost no time or no time at all. This is achieved by penetrating the very structure of the universe, instead of following along its winded paths of space and time.
For example, between two points on a sheet of paper, not the straight line is the shortest way to go from one point to the other. The shortest way is folding the paper so that the both points get into immediate contact with each other, with only, if at all, the thin layer of paper in beween them. Take a needle to penetrate that layer, and you get from one point to the other without having to travel along the straight line --- and thus within (almost) no time.
Taking the needle and penetrating the paper with it is about making a jump. Since the structure of the universe is not as simple to fold or to penetrate as a sheet of paper is, it can be penetrated only at locations where it is sufficiently pervious. These locations are called Jump Points.
In Vega Strike, ships make jumps by [Terminology: Movement|moving]] to Jump Points and engaging their Jump Drives.
