I'm just pasting this from a forum post so I don't forget:

Spirit, do we have a Bengal class strike carrier? Or, actually, when were they made? EDIT: Doh! Of course! The Tiger's Claw is a Bengal. Wikipedia wrote: Bengal-class strike carrier The (fictional) Bengal-class Strike Carrier is a starship in the Wing Commander universe. The Bengal-class entered service in 26191. The first operational Flight IIA Bengal, TCS Tiger's Claw, was commissioned in 26442. The Bengal-class was a fast, heavily armored and surprisingly well armed carrier with twelve launch tubes, two small side-mounted bays and a single forward bay for launch and recovery of spacecraft. Its air wing of 1042 fighters was not as large as the later Confederation-class, but was well stocked was combat planes of all types, and its launch tubes enabled it to make a flush scramble in twelve minutes. The Bengal carried a crew of 600, including a 50-man marine complement. Typical Bengal-class Fighter Wing 8/2655: (Example Shown: 88th FW, TCS Tiger's Claw)

  • 14 F-36 Hornet light fighters (Yellowjacket Squadron)
  • 14 F-36 Hornet light fighters (Killer Bee Squadron)
  • 14 F-44 Rapier II medium fighters (Black Lion Squadron)
  • 14 F-44 Rapier II medium fighters (Screamin' Shepards Squadron)
  • 14 F-44 Rapier II medium fighters (Blue Angel Squadron)
  • 14 A-14D Raptor heavy fighters (Star Slayer Squadron)
  • 04 F-54 Epee light fighters (Mixed)
  • 04 F-57 Sabre heavy fighters (Mixed)
  • 04 A-17C Broadsword heavy bombers(Mixed)
  • 04 Interceptors (Mixed)
  • 02 CF-337d Troopship
  • 02 Shuttles

And the wikipedia has a list of Bengal class: Quote:

  • TCS Beacontree
  • TCS Bengal
  • TCS Eagle's Talon
  • TCS Exeter (lost 2654)
  • TCS Kipling6
  • TCS Kyoto
  • TCS Tiger's Claw CV-07 (lost 2656)
  • TCS Trafalgar (lost 2654) 7
  • TCS Wolfhound 8

Okay, Exeter, Tiger's Claw and Trafalgar lost... Hmmmm.... That leaves TCS Bengal (no mention in encyclopaedia) TCS Eagle's Talon TCS Kipling (no mention in encyclopaedia) TCS Kyoto "The TCS Kyoto assisted the TCS Tiger's Claw while in the Venice system in 2654." TCS Wolfhound "The TCS Wolfhound was the sistership of the Tiger's Claw. It was the flagship of the main battle task force, under the command of Admiral Banbridge, during the raid on Vukar Tag."

Allright. TCS Kyoto it is. Now I need to find a suitable commander, and then an escort carrier to go with it...

Not sure which fleet we're sailing with, but here's something from a post by Fireskull:

This will come in very handy for any storyline stuff we decide to.

"This FAQ outlines the main battle fleet commands that comprise the Terran Confederation Navy. Each fleet is normally assigned a sector to operate in. These fleets are also referred to by other names. For example, the 3rd Fleet is known as the Terran Defense Fleet, of which their role is to act as Earth?s last line of defense. The 7th and 14th Fleets combined are known as the Confederation Forward Fleet, as they are the forces mainly responsible for fighting the Kilrathi on the front lines.

3rd Fleet ? Otherwise known as the Terran Defense Fleet, the 3rd Battle Fleet is the force that turned back the Kilrathi at the Battle of Earth. After the victory, President Quinson permanently assigned the 3rd Fleet to guard the Sol Sector from any future Kilrathi attack. The force has a formidable complement of six main battle groups centered around the TCS Armageddon, Saratoga, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Lincoln, and Coral Sea plus two small light carrier groups (Centurion and Vicksburg). After the transfer of Admiral Tolwyn to command the 14th Fleet, Admiral Fletcher has been appointed the new commander, where he hosts his flag onboard the Saratoga. Ever since the Battle of Earth, the 3rd Fleet has successfully defended against Kilrathi raider forces that dared to strike the inner worlds again.

7th Fleet ? The Confederate 7th Battle Fleet is the fleet assigned to protect the Vega Sector. The Vega Sector is so essential because it is the main sector that lies between the Kilrathi worlds and the Terran homeworlds, where the nastiest fighting on the front occurs. Because losing the sector will seriously undermine the Confederation war effort and leave the Sol Sector to a direct attack, the 7th Fleet is the largest battle fleet on the front. In addition to their main base at Torgo III and the sector base at Blackmane IV, the 7th Fleet has three fleet carrier battle groups (TCS Bradshaw, Liberty, and Hermes), and four light carrier groups (TCS Langley, Furious, Ticonderoga, and Victorious). Admiral Rumley is the commander of the 7th Fleet.

14th Fleet ? The Confederation 14th Battle Fleet is the force assigned to protect the Enigma and Epsilon Sector. The Enigma Sector is important to the Confed war effort due to the sector?s black hole anomaly, which enables vessels can jump across the entire sector in just two or three jumps. It has two fleet carrier battle groups (TCS Kinney, and Invincible), and four light carrier groups (TCS Petrov, Courageous, Cowpens, and Victory). Admiral Mardukas is stationed in the Vespus Naval Base.

15th Fleet ? The Confederation 15th Battle Fleet is the force assigned to the Gemini Sector. The Confed military presence in this sector is geared towards policing and patrolling against indigenous groups such as pirates, mercenaries, Retros, and other forms of scum. In addition to a formidable militia fighter force and scores of patrol frigates and destroyers, the 15th Fleet has three light carrier battle groups (Kiev, Majestic, and Clemenceau). Their main base of operations is Perry Naval Base, of which Admiral Terrell is the commander in charge.

19th Fleet ? The 19th Battle Fleet is not assigned a permanent sector; instead, this command hosts the majority of Confed?s escort carrier inventory, and other raiding forces. This command size is classified, but its been widely known there's a score of light and escort carriers, fast capital ships, and scouts. Rather then fighting on just one sector, task units of the 19th Fleet undertake a diverse mission role throughout the entire front that includes: convoy escort, fighter transport, supporting planetary invasions, and Recon-In-Force raids deep behind enemy lines. Even though their resources are dispersed along multiple sectors, the 19th Fleet?s forces act independently of other fleet commands and answer only to their immediate commander, Admiral Hancock. It is widely known that Special Operations Command and other covert ops units sometimes ?borrows? forces from this command. "
