The Spaceborn were genetically engineered in secret by the Lightbringers as a servant race, to perform undesirable zero-g tasks for their suprahuman "superiors". During the Andolian-Lightbringer war, the Spaceborn were discovered and liberated, and sided with the Protectorate as a result.
